About Us
I'm Kim Goldich. K G Carpentry and Tile, founded in 2013 is a one man design and remodeling contracting company. My specialty is interior design and renovations with a focus on kitchen and bath work. I do other types of carpentry as well, including window and door installation, deck building, and repairs. Over a period of 40 years in the remodeling business, I’ve worked for several contracting outfits as well as myself, designing and building everything from furniture to additions. I regard what I do as a craft, and therefore, my emphasis is on quality workmanship and customer service. The photo gallery on this site focuses on the more artistic side of my work. I haven’t included much in the way of the mundane stuff like window and door installation, as craftsmanship in these areas is more about what you don’t see when looking at the finished product, things like proper flashing and sealing. Let’s face it, a picture of a window is just that. It’s much more fun looking at the flashy stuff. And it gives the viewer a better idea of what I’m capable of.

Below is a gallery of photos documenting 40 years of design build remodeling and woodworking. The gallery continues in the portfolio tab.
Stair Rail Retrofit
Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of the original railing on this stair set. It was a 2 x 6 with square balusters that looked like a cheap deck deck railing. I added the panels on the wall to go along with the Victorian motif of the rest of the house. I changed the floor of the landing which was originally carpeted plywood to oak with a walnut inlay.
Sweater Chest
I built the piece early in my career in the mid 1980’s. It stood 4’ wide x 4’ tall x2’ deep. I planed the solid oak panels smooth and to a consistent thickness using a large hand plane. The finger jointed drawers were made of aromatic cedar. This piece was lost some years later when the house it lived in burnt to the ground.
A Doctor's Study
While working as general foreman for a company in 2009, I designed and installed the cabinet layout for a doctor’s study. On my initial visit to the condominium, I asked the client if he was familiar with someone for whom I had previously worked in the same complex. It turned out that I had installed the kitchen and built the fireplace mantle for the people he bought the unit from. I landed the job based on my previous work. The psychedelic art was something the doctor commissioned me to do to cover a weird window that looked out under a deck.
Cherry End Tables
Another early project. These were built for a couple of college professors from wood from a cherry tree they took down on some property they owned.
